Algebraic and geometric aspects of rational Γ - inner functions

چکیده
Abstract The set Γ def = {(z + w, zw) : |z| ≤ 1, |w| ≤ 1} ⊂ C has intriguing complex-geometric properties; it has a 3-parameter group of automorphisms, its distinguished boundary is a ruled surface homeomorphic to the Möbius band and it has a special subvariety which is the only complex geodesic that is invariant under all automorphisms. We exploit this geometry to develop an explicit and detailed structure theory for the rational maps from the unit disc to Γ that map the boundary of the disc to the distinguished boundary of Γ. The talk is based on joint work with Jim Agler and Nicholas Young. [1] Jim Agler, Zinaida A. Lykova and N. J. Geometric Gamma Values and Zeta Values in Positive Characteristic
In analogy with values of the classical Euler Γ-function at rational numbers and the Riemann ζ-function at positive integers, we consider Thakur’s geometric Γ-function evaluated at rational arguments and Carlitz ζ-values at positive integers. We prove that, when considered together, all of the algebraic relations among these special values arise from the standard functional equations of the Γ-f...

Pietro Corvaja §1 Introduction. A general principle in the theory of diophantine equations asserts that if an equation admits " many " rational solutions, there should be a geometric reason explaining such abundance. We consider here a (multiplicative) semigroup of N ×N matrices with rational entries: we suppose that all of them admit rational eigenvalues and deduce the natural geometrical cons...
متن کاملAlgebraic and algorithmic aspects of radical parametrizations
In this article algebraic constructions are introduced in order to study the variety defined by a radical parametrization (a tuple of functions involving complex numbers, n variables, the four field operations and radical extractions). We provide algorithms to implicitize radical parametrizations and to check whether a radical parametrization can be reparametrized into a rational parametrization.
متن کاملNumerical solution of Troesch's problem using Christov rational functions
We present a collocation method to obtain the approximate solution of Troesch's problem which arises in the confinement of a plasma column by radiation pressure and applied physics. By using the Christov rational functions and collocation points, this method transforms Troesch's problem into a system of nonlinear algebraic equations. The rate of convergence is shown to be exponential. The numer...
متن کاملBirkhoff's Theorem from a geometric perspective: A simple example
From Hilbert's theorem of zeroes, and from Noether's ideal theory, Birkhoff derived certain algebraic concepts (as explained by Tholen) that have a dual significance in general toposes, similar to their role in the original examples of algebraic geometry. I will describe a simple example that illustrates some of the aspects of this relationship. The dualization from algebra to geometr...
